Species text
The Recorder species account states that Parydroptera discomyzina has been recorded from four sites on the coast of southern England from Suffolk to Sussex. In addition to this, the NBN Gateway map also shows records from North Wales and the Bristol Channel. Previously recorded from Barling Marshes in 1980, records in 2005 from Fobbing Marshes and West Thurrock lagoons are the first Essex records for 25 years (D.A. Smith, pers. comm.). In 2010 it was recorded from the undercliffs at Walton-on-the-Naze and in 2011 it was recorded from the reedbeds at Stanford Warren, near Stanford-le-Hope. Nationally, it has been noted from saltmarshes and coastal levels. The biology is unknown, though larvae are probably carnivores in damp, saline mud. References
